AOL recently announced that through a partnership with Goodmail email marketers could pay to guarantee delivery of their emails into the inbox with all images and links intact.
Those in the media that did not read the release correctly started to publicise the concept that to send an email to AOL will start to cost you money!
Of course this is not the case. AOL are simply stating that for messages that you wish to ensure are not going to be junked or have images disabled then you can pay a premium of a fraction of a pence per message. Think of it as paying Royal Mail for recorded delivery that has a guarantee against it.
AOL is not changing any of its existing filters and the standard whitelist will remain the same so don’t think your AOL recipients will stop getting any email with images in the inbox.
