The key to successful email marketing is relevance. One part of relevance that is often talked about is personalising the content of the email based upon past purchases, demographic information or what the customer has stated they are interested in. However the other key driver of relevance is the time each message is delivered.
To build an email that is sent at the right time requires a different type of solution to a standard newsletter management tool as the email needs to be sent on a specific day for each recipient rather at than the same time for all recipients. In addition many solutions that enable you to set-up triggered messaging suffer from the inability to use the required level of dynamic content personalisation of each message or have deliverability problems.
This is where the Maxemail Triggered Emails Wizard comes in as this provides all the personalisation, targeting and deliverability tools required for both standard and trigger based email marketing campaigns.
> Types of triggered emails
Birthday messages
Send your customers a birthday card by email with a special discount voucher.
Renewal reminders
If you offer a subscription based service use a series of emails prior to the renewal date to ensure you remind your customers to renew.
Lifecycle & welcome emails
Lifecycle emails such as educating a customer with a series of emails on how to get the most out of their purchase can be effective at generating brand loyalty and achieving further purchases.
Stock alerts
Offering alerts to customers for when chosen products come back into stock will help minimise the risk of them making the purchase at your competitor
Shopping cart abandonment alerts
Customers that add products to the shopping cart but do not purchase can be followed-up to remind them to complete the purchase.
Quote follow-ups
If your customer has requested a quote, perhaps through your website or call centre this can be followed up upon with a timely email reminder a few days later to encourage them to buy.
> How the wizard works
-
Set-up the email you wish to be sent as normal, complete with any dynamic content, segmentation or any other functions you wish to utilise.
-
Open the wizard builder and click “Create new trigger”
-
Select the email you have set-up which you wish to trigger
-
Give the trigger a name
-
Choose how often you want the trigger to run – daily or weekly.
-
If the trigger is set to run weekly you can choose which day of the week it should run
-
Next select the date field that you wish to base the selection of who gets the email each day/week
-
Enter how many days before or after the date held against each person. In this case we have said that the person should get the email 7 days before their renewal date arrives
-
Press “Create Trigger”
-
On the Triggers admin page you can pause a trigger if you wish to stop it temporarily or manually force it to run for that particular day. This page also gives you information about when the trigger was last run and its current status.
